The inverter is an essential component of the power electronics system of the drivetrain, it regulates the electrical power from the battery system to the motor necessary to perform a specific task. This determines if a vehicle can achieve the desired performance and efficiency. Whether as an entire electric powertrain system including the battery and engine or as a stand-alone component, ATESTEO offers many possibilities to test your inverter. Our strength: E-motor tests can be performed with a max. electrical power of 1 MW.

The motor in an e-car is quieter, more efficient and more environmentally friendly than a combustion engine and provides instant torque from the start, resulting in faster acceleration. Regenerative braking allows the motor to recover energy when the vehicle brakes or coasts. ATESTEO can carry out various tests to develop and optimise performance:
- Motors from BEV and HEV can e.g. be driven “back to back”,
- E-motor-transfer cases and
- Engine – transmission – transfer cases.

The most important components of an electric motor include cooling units, fans, ventilation systems and cables. For example, high speeds also lead to high temperatures in the system, which must therefore be effectively cooled during testing. Conventional cooling systems cannot cope with the heat generated by the electric motors. ATESTEO dealt with this problem at an early point in time and is able to cool the motor directly even at maximum power. Currently, five machines are available in new high-performance test boxes.

Test of electric battery systems
Vehicle tests on the road or e-mobility testing on the test bench – in both scenarios, being able to charge traction batteries directly at the test site significantly maximizes testing efficiency. ATESTEO has developed DriveOn and ChargeOn, two solutions that allow charging regardless of location, provider, and time.
Different charging scenarios such as charging at home with a wallbox or at a DC fast charging station lead to varying charging power and times. Similarly, discharge occurs at different rates depending on the power demands of the driving scenarios. ATESTEO has you covered regardless of your battery systems´ test requirements.
